Differentiating Factors
idDots Nickel Microdots general properties |
Polymer Microdots general properties |
· A Security Identification Code (SIC) is etched physically through the body of the nickel taggant. idDots taggants cannot lose information on a tag, lifetime guarantee in all conditions, internal and external usages · idDots taggants are heat and chemical resistant. Information on Nickel Tags cannot be affected by sunlight or heat · Information on idDots taggants can be read with microscope on all dark surfaces, no need to remove the Tags from vehicle to identify it · idDots taggants are 6 microns in thickness are used in a aerosol applicator · Nickel taggants don’t rebound from the surface during spray application due to minuscule mass and inertia. This results in majority of Tags being bonded onto the surface |
· Information placed on polymer dots is done by a photographic process, not “Laser etched” as stated in most marketing and specification materials · Polymer dots melt in heat, as they are plastic - they lose information when exposed to heat. Information on dots fades away, like any photographic images, when exposed to sunlight · Cannot read polymer dot on any dark, silver or metal surface. The dot must be removed and placed on a white surface to read the information on · The 1mm plastic dot is far too thick, 60 microns. Can only be used with a rigid type spray system, which is cumbersome · Polymer dots have significant mass and inertia resulting in significant numbers of them rebounding from the surface during spray application and falling onto ground. |
